May 2008
It is the neighborhood association's recomendation for area residents to sign with Chesepeake. This is based on months of research and analysis of the gas drilling issue and the generous offer to give funds to build a park in our neighborhood. Ultimately, the decision is yours, and this recommendation is not to be taken as legal advice.

 Dear Neighbors,

First, we would like to thank you for your patience regarding gas leases and drilling thus far.
We would like to update you on the situation as it stands.
After the gas committees meeting with Four Sevens (Webb, Shannon, and Haas LLC) last Monday and today's committee meeting, here is how we have decided to proceed. As previously stated, this is not legal advice and you are free to do with your lease contract as you choose.

1. In the best interest of the neighborhood, we will be asking Four Sevens for a donation to the Neighborhood Association to put to use on neighborhood improvements. We welcome any suggestions you may have as to how the donation money can be used to improve our community. As of now, the most popular topic has been a new playground for Burton Hill Trinity Trails but the topic is open for discussion.

2. We are working on making amendments to the current proposed lease to insure we (the neighborhood) maximize our
monetary benefit from gas drilling. Once we revise the lease to our specification ,we (the Gas Committee) will meet with Four Seven's to present our offer. We will hopefully have information regarding their final decision by the next BHTTNA Meeting and will pass on what we find at that time. Please note, the chances of us getting what we ask for are much better if you hold out on signing your lease.

Our next BHTTNA Meeting is being held Monday May 14th @ 7 pm at the Burton Hill Elementary Auditorium...as stated in your newsletter.
This is best way to receive the most accurate and up to date info regarding this matter, as Four Seven's representatives will be at the meeting.

Also, it has come to our attention that certain neighbors are spreading incorrect information regarding lease signing. Please do not feel pressured to sign a lease because someone has stated that members of the gas committee have signed their leases. This is not correct. We also have cause to believe certain individuals are receiving monetary compensation to get neighbors to sign their leases. We advise all neighbors to contact a gas committee member before making a final decision to insure you have what you need to make an informed decision. Committee members are as follows:

Shawni Livingston
Gary McElyea
Joanna McElyea
Fritz Quast

Thank you again for your patience.
